The Yamaha Super Axe SA1000 is one of Yamaha’s standout vintage semi-hollow guitars, built in Japan during a period widely regarded for exceptional craftsmanship and consistency. Designed and assembled by master craftsmen, the SA1000 features carefully selected tonewoods that deliver a rich, balanced tone with warmth, clarity, and impressive sustain.

Its laminated beech and birch semi-hollow body paired with a mahogany neck produces a smooth, mellow character with excellent articulation from bass to treble. The guitar is equipped with high-performance humbucking pickups featuring anti-magnetic nickel-silver covers, providing a full, dynamic sound that works beautifully for jazz, blues, rock, and fusion.

A sturdy stop tailpiece and stud-style bridge are firmly mounted to a solid internal block, allowing string vibration to transfer efficiently through the body and contributing to the guitar’s long sustain and strong resonance. The ebony fingerboard with abalone inlays adds a striking visual touch while providing a fast, comfortable playing surface. Overbound frets further enhance playability and give the instrument a refined vintage aesthetic.
