Unlike a traditional dynamics processor, the MBT is a "color box" built around four distinct sections—HPF/Input, EQ, Color Comp, and Super Silk—each designed to interact and breathe life into sterile tracks, stems, or full mixes. It is the ultimate final polish for engineers who want to add weight, dimension, and analog glue without sacrificing clarity.​

Key elements of its design:

• Custom Transformer Topology Packed with RND's custom interstage and output transformers, the MBT is built to generate tasty harmonic saturation. The "Drive" control allows you to push the interstage transformers into their sweet spot, adding rich, musical harmonics before the signal even hits the output.​
• 2-Band Shelf EQ A simple but elegant 2-band equalizer with 3-octave ranges allows for broad, gentle shaping. The Low Frequency band (30Hz-240Hz) adds weight without mud, while the High Frequency band (3kHz-24kHz) adds air and shine without harshness.​
• Color Comp An all-new optical compressor design optimized for non-linear coloration. With a fixed 2:1 ratio and a variable high-pass sidechain, it can be dialed from subtle, groovy compression to aggressive squashing that brings out the attitude of drums and vocals.​
