Revv G8 Noise Gate - Black Sparkle The Revv G8 Noise Gate is the simple, zero-compromise solution to taking control of your rig. Noise comes from so many places - the room you’re in, your guitar, your amp, pedals, other pieces of gear in the signal chain. Dealing with that gets in the way of music live & in the studio. None of us like the noise, but we usually just deal with it because the solutions aren’t ideal. That’s why we had to build a flexible noise gate to keep your entire rig quiet with zero downside. G8’s controls can dial in that sliced & diced metal rhythm tone when you need it - but most importantly it is designed to maintain the sonic integrity of your guitar tone. You will feel the same & sound the same - all you’ll be wondering is where the noise went. Performance The G8's operation is 100% centered around the Threshold knob. While Hold & Release can help fine tune afterwards - you're going to find the perfect setting without having to adjust things like attack times & ratios. It just works. The goal is feeling like you plugged straight into your favorite amp, but all the noise is gone. G8 works great for extreme high gain metal & classic single coil blues alike. Inspiration When the response to Generator 120 MK3’s gate was so positive, we got to work on making a standalone pedal with fast, silent performance for metal players. However, Revv’s session & touring artists started asking about it which gave us a new goal: what if we could make G8 so transparent that even country guitarists like it? We rely on this kind of feedback to do our best work. The Technical Details The G8 has 4 jacks so you can set it up in a variety of ways based on your rig. Everything from simple input gating, to the FX loop of your amp, to specific pedals & more! While many players will set G8 to be transparent - you can completely ignore that & get a very aggressive attack perfect for the "you can hear the gate working" staccato sound of modern metal. How To Use Set up the gate in your preferred signal path based on the diagrams in the manual. Set all knobs to 0. If you're still experiencing noise, slowly raise Thresh until it's quiet. Now play softly, including rolling down the volume knob on your guitar. Make sure none of your signal is cut, then adjust the Thresh knob back down to find a balance. Hold & Release fine tune feel. Design We designed the G8 during a period of time in which many guitarists weren't happy with most noise gates because they were too hard to dial in or sucked tone. Even worse - many of the best options were constantly out of stock due to component shortages. Because we designed the G8 based on the Generator 120 MK3's gate, we made sure to use our own circuit that wasn't susceptible to supply chain issues, while adding some more controls to really fine tune your gating. It's also our only buffered pedal, which ensures proper performance in the variety of 4-cable methods that are available.
