K.Country D-350 is a Japanese acoustic guitar, manufactured in the 1970s at the Kasuga Gakki facilities (Nagoya). This model is based on a Dreadnought body shape and features a "herringbone" purfling. This unit has been preserved in New Old Stock (NOS) condition, meaning that since its production it was not played by an end-user. The guitar features a spruce top plate and rosewood back and sides (laminated construction). After our basic service work, which included installing new strings and a preventive setup, the guitar is ready to play.

Body and construction The Dreadnought-shaped soundbox features a top plate made of spruce (laminate), with the back and sides made of rosewood (laminate). The body edges are finished with a classic "herringbone" binding. The instrument is finished with a high-gloss clear lacquer (Natural). Inside the soundbox, a traditional bracing system is used. A standard glued neck construction is applied. Given the NOS condition, the lacquer coating in our workshop only required gentle cleaning.

Neck and ergonomics The Nato wood neck features a profile similar to a "C" shape. The neck is paired with a rosewood fingerboard. Due to the lack of previous use (NOS condition), the original Vintage size frets show no wear and retain their full, factory profile. The nut width is 43.5 mm. As part of the service work, the fingerboard was cleaned.

Sound The instrument is a fully acoustic guitar with no electronic circuit.

  • Characteristics: The combination of a spruce top and a rosewood body generates a frequency response with a clear, bouncy bottom end and legible highs.
  • Dynamics: The guitar responds appropriately to varied articulation strength, maintaining clarity during both fingerstyle playing and stronger strumming with a pick.

Additional information

The New Old Stock (NOS) condition refers to instruments that, after production, never reached a final customer and retained their original specification without secondary repairs.

The K.Country brand offered instruments structurally based on proven American Dreadnought acoustic designs.

The use of laminates in body construction (spruce and rosewood) was a common standard in Japanese production of this period for specific price ranges.

The service work we performed was kept to a minimum to preserve the authenticity of the NOS condition: a new set of strings (12-53) was installed and a basic setup was performed.

Hardware

  • Bridge: Rosewood – the original, factory-fitted component.
  • Tuners: Closed-gear Gotoh mechanisms. The chrome hardware has retained its original mechanical efficiency.

Instrument condition

  • Technical condition: The instrument is mechanically functional after a luthier verification. The truss rod works properly, and the frets have no signs of use (NOS condition).
  • Visual condition: The guitar is preserved in very good visual condition. Due to the NOS status, the instrument is free of standard signs of use. The wood has no structural cracks.
  • Setup and Modifications: The instrument is 100% original, with no modifications. A basic setup was performed, taking into account the adjustment for a new set of strings (12-53).

Why choose this instrument

  • NOS Condition: A rare opportunity on the secondary market to acquire a guitar from the 70s that has not been previously played and retains 100% of its factory specification.
  • No fret wear: The instrument does not require procedures such as fret leveling or replacement, offering the original fingerboard geometry.
  • Herringbone binding: A classic finishing detail visually referring to historical acoustic models from the USA.
  • Ready to play: After our preventive check and string replacement, the guitar is fully prepared for regular playing.
