The ASM Leviasynth Desktop is the most powerful instrument yet from Ashun Sound Machines, the creators of the award-winning Hydrasynth. Leviasynth is a new hybrid digital / analog synth that lets you combine eight oscillators and multiple synthesis modes into rich, algorithmic structures. A modern, reimagined take on 8-operator FM synthesis, it ventures far beyond traditional subtractive design into a deep sandbox of sonic alchemy. With 16 voices, 8 oscillators per voice, dual analogue and digital filters, and a deep modulation engine, it is built for producers who want to sculpt truly original sounds. Housed in a solid steel chassis with a full-color touchscreen and 16 Polytouch pads, the Desktop format slots effortlessly into any studio, rack, or VESA-mount setup.

Key elements of its design:

• 16-Voice Hybrid Algorithmic Engine Leviasynth offers sixteen-voice polyphony with eight oscillators per voice, and there are over 300 waveforms available for each voice's eight oscillator slots. Oscillator configurations include Phase Modulation, Frequency Modulation, Pulse Width Modulation, HTE Sync, and three types of Phase Distortion.
• Algorithms & Morphing 144 preset algorithms plus a user-customisable slot per patch define how oscillators interact, while algorithm morphing lets you smoothly transition between configurations, opening up evolving textures and unique timbres that are difficult to achieve on conventional synthesizers.
• Dual Analog & Digital Filters The 8 oscillator algorithms feed an 18-mode digital filter, followed by a powerful four-pole analog filter with a custom pre-drive circuit for added warmth and character. All of these filters can self-oscillate at high resonance settings, with pre-drive saturation for helping your patches cut through any mix.
• Deep Modulation 13 envelopes and 5 LFOs provide intense modulation options, and each of the 8 oscillators has its own volume envelope, all freely routable in the powerful 32-slot modulation matrix.
• Expressive Polytouch Pads & MPE The 16 Polytouch pads offer an unsurpassed playing experience, with polyphonic aftertouch and velocity sensitivity, and Leviasynth is also MPE-compatible. Pads feature multiple modes such as step sequencer control, scale and pad offsets, providing enhanced expression in a compact form factor.
• Sequencer, Arpeggiator & Stereo Mode The 3-track sequencer records both note and macro automation, and the arpeggiator features a new Entropy function for advanced realtime note manipulation. OSC Stereo mode pairs voices into binaural oscillator and filter sets, with independent panning for modulators, carriers or both.
• Dual Effects Engines The first engine is the master effects section, which consists of Delay, Reverb, Distortion, Rotary, Phaser, Chorus, Compression, EQ and more. The second is a dedicated insert effects engine, which offers five flavors of Delay and four Reverbs.
• Single / Multi Modes & Connectivity Single mode allows for all 16 voices to be active per patch, and Multi mode allocates the voices into two parts of 8 voices each, where layers or splits are easily set up. Extensive connectivity including MIDI, USB, CV and gate lets Leviasynth slot effortlessly into modern hardware and software setups.

MusicTech's commissioning editor Sam Willings, who tried the synth at NAMM 2026, said the Leviasynth dragged him into its vast sound palette for a lot longer than he planned, with its massive bank of inspiring presets, intuitive interface, and three-track sequencer keeping him hooked building pads, sequences and squelching basslines.
