I’m offering a 1978 Ibanez Musician MC400 made in Japan.

The MC400 is one of the earliest and most desirable models from the legendary Ibanez Musician series - Ibanez’s high-end professional line introduced in the late 1970s to compete with top-tier instruments from Gibson and Alembic.

The Musician series quickly became known for its exceptional build quality, neck-through-body construction and advanced electronics. These instruments were designed for professional musicians and are still considered among the finest vintage MIJ guitars ever produced by Ibanez.

This particular example comes from 1978 and features the classic neck-through-body construction with a multi-piece maple/walnut neck and original electronics.

The original Super 88 pickups are one of the defining features of early Musician models. Combined with the Tri-sound system, the guitar offers an extremely wide tonal range — from thick vintage humbucker tones to brighter single-coil-like sounds and out-of-phase textures.

The neck-through construction provides excellent sustain and resonance, while the ebony fingerboard gives the instrument a fast attack and impressive note clarity.

Condition

The guitar is in very good vintage condition.

It shows natural signs of use typical for a professionally played late 1970s instrument — light scratches, small dings and natural patina on the gold hardware. The finish still retains a very nice gloss and beautifully highlights the ash grain throughout the body.

There are some light surface marks and minor wear around the body edges visible under direct light, but overall the guitar presents exceptionally well for a 45+ year old instrument.

The neck is straight, the truss rod functions correctly and the frets remain in good condition, allowing comfortable low action.

The guitar has no cracks to the neck or headstock. It has never been structurally repaired or glued. The neck-through construction is clean and solid with no signs of separation or damage. Electronics and hardware appear to be original.

This is a real vintage MIJ Ibanez from the golden era - not a modern reissue.
