Up for sale is an exceptionally clean and incredibly rare 2008 PRS SC-J Thinline Limited Run in excellent condition and perfect working order. We just gave this beautiful instrument a pro set up with a fresh set of Ernie Ball John Mayer Signature strings (10.5-47) so it plays effortlessly with a straight neck, low action and spot-on intonation. And the pair of PRS Archtop pickups sound absolutely phenomenal with tons of warmth, clarity and a vintage, woody tone. These pickups were specifically designed by PRS for jazz and archtop applications, offering a lower output, open and extremely dynamic voice with outstanding note separation and detail.

The SC-J is one of the rarest and most unique jazz-oriented instruments PRS has ever produced. Built as a limited run in 2008 with only 300 made, the SC-J combined traditional carved archtop aesthetics with PRS precision, modern playability and a fully hollow thinline construction. Featuring a 17” lower bout, carved figured maple top, ebony appointments and a long 25.5” scale length, these guitars occupy a really special space somewhere between a boutique jazz box and a modern PRS Hollowbody. And unlike many traditional large-body archtops, the SC-J stays incredibly focused, articulate and feedback resistant while still delivering rich and complex jazz tones.

This particular example is especially clean and well kept. Cosmetically, the guitar is in excellent condition showing only light signs of careful ownership. There is one small ding on the back of the neck, along with some light swirling and surface scratching in the clear coat from normal handling and cleaning. There is also zero fret wear and the guitar honestly presents like an instrument that simply hasn’t been played much, because it hasn’t. Please see all photos for detailed condition.

The carved figured maple top on this one is also particularly nice with tight flame figuring throughout, and the overall fit and finish is exactly what you’d expect from PRS during this era. These SC-J models rarely surface on the market, especially in this condition.
