Hand -built by David Monette during his highly regarded Chicago period (cira 1985). This instrument represents the early pinnacle of Monette’s design philosophy. It has been meticulously maintained and possesses a world -class provenance.

Provenance:

Original owner: Professor John Miller (Royal College of Music) UK.

Recent History: Purchased from John Miller in 1990. Owned and played by Roy Bilham, former player/manager for 13 years with the world-renowned brass ensemble The Wallace Collection.

This instrument was used during the height of the group international activity adding significant historical value for collectors and professional performers alike.

Serial number #218 (stamped on the 2nd valve casing)

Finish:

Beautiful Raw Brass with nickel tubing on the slides and upper valves.

Technical:

Valves excellent, the action is fast, light and maintains the superb compression expected of a premier Monette build.

Engraving:

Distinctive “Monette” branding on the end of the lead pipe, is elegantly engraved.

Condition:

Excellent overall condition. There is a very minor, superficial “ping” on the curve of the bell bow, cosmetic and has no impact on the instrument’s legendary intonation or response.

Mouthpiece:

Includes an original Monette 061 C mouthpiece.

Specially matched for this era of instrument.

Playability:

True to Monette reputation, this trumpet offers incredible ease to play, consistent intonation across all register and a rich, resonant core. It’s a “players instrument” with a storied past.
