The Sonicware SmplTrek is a portable, battery‑powered production sampler that combines multi‑track sampling, sequencing, and song‑based arrangement with built‑in effects and audio‑interface capabilities for studio, live, and streaming use. It offers up to 30‑voice polyphony, 10 flexible sequencer tracks plus 3 dedicated global audio tracks per scene, and supports direct sampling from microphones, instruments, line sources, and USB audio from computers or smartphones.

Key elements of its design:

• Scene‑based song structure and tracks
  Each project (song) contains up to 16 Scenes, and each Scene has 10 sequencer tracks plus 3 additional Global Audio tracks intended for longer takes such as vocals or live instruments. Track types include Loop, Shots (one‑shots), Drum, Instrument, and MIDI tracks (up to four Drum and four Instrument tracks at once), letting you build complete arrangements that combine clips, melodic parts, and external MIDI gear.

• Sampling engine and workflow
  SmplTrek records at 48 kHz / 16‑bit, with a maximum sampling time of about 180 minutes per sample in stereo (2 GB), giving plenty of headroom for long phrases and ambience. It features one‑touch sample recording, automatic slicing for quickly chopping loops, and time‑stretch to match sample tempo to your project, plus a pool of 500+ factory sounds and support for importing your own samples from SDHC cards up to 32 GB.
• Pads, sequencing, and performance control
  A grid of 15 velocity‑sensitive pads with RGB LEDs is used for triggering samples, playing drum kits, and recording patterns in real time or step input. Per‑step editing lets you adjust parameters such as pitch, velocity, level, pan, send amount, and gate length, while automation lanes and up to eight‑note polyphony on instrument tracks enable expressive melodic sequencing with external MIDI keyboards if desired.
• Mixing, effects, and processing
  The mixer section combines the 10 sequencer tracks, 3 Global Audio tracks, and external/USB audio, providing level, pan, sends, and basic EQ/filtering per channel. There are 36 internal DSP effects (about 32–36 depending on firmware) including delays, reverbs, modulation, dynamics, and mastering‑style processors that can be used on tracks and for overall polishing of your song.
• Connectivity, audio interface, and sync
  SmplTrek includes a 6.3 mm Mic/Line/Hi‑Z input and an additional 6.3 mm Mic/Line input, a pair of 6.3 mm line outputs, and a 3.5 mm stereo headphone output. A micro‑USB port turns it into a 2‑in/2‑out audio/MIDI interface for PC, Mac, or smartphones, while 5‑pin DIN MIDI In/Out, 3.5 mm analog sync in/out, and an SD card slot round out connectivity for integrating external synths, drum machines, and storage.

Portable design and power
Compact and weighing about 550 g, the SmplTrek is designed for mobile use and can run on battery power for on‑the‑go music creation and live streaming. A clear display, dedicated control knobs (including input gain, master volume, and assignable controls), along with selection buttons and a D‑Pad, provide an efficient hands‑on interface for editing samples, arranging scenes, and mixing without needing a computer.
