The classic round-shoulder “workhorse” in a modern style with cutaway
The Epiphone J-45 Studio EC is part of the brand new Epiphone Studio Acoustic Collection. These guitars have been completely redesigned and are highly authentic and affordable acoustic guitars inspired by legendary Gibson designs. The J-45 Studio EC offers a blend of classic design and modern functionality, and we have designed it to appeal to beginners and experienced players alike. The J-45 Studio EC has its roots in the classic Gibson J-45, affectionately known as the “workhorse” by musicians. And like the original Gibson, it features a round-shoulder body with a cutaway and a 24.75" scale length. Thanks to the cutaway, the upper frets are easy to reach. The J-45 Studio EC delivers a warm, rich sound with exceptional clarity, making it ideal for a wide range of musical genres. The J-45 Studio EC has a laminated mahogany body with a cutaway and 4-ply binding in ivory and black on the top and one ply in ivory on the back. The acoustic heart is a solid spruce top. This design produces a nuanced, balanced sound with excellent dynamic range—and, as with any good guitar, the sound gets even better with age. The mahogany neck is glued to the body via a dovetail joint.
The acoustic heart of the guitar is a solid spruce top. This design produces a nuanced, balanced sound with excellent dynamic range—and, as with any good guitar, the sound only gets better with age. The mahogany neck is glued to the body via a dovetail joint. The neck has a 1960s round C profile, which ensures comfortable playability.
The neck features a rosewood fingerboard with 20 standard frets and simple pearloid dot inlays. The other ends of the strings are guided over a compensated plastic saddle and held in place by the belly-up rosewood bridge with ivory-colored bridge pins. A teardrop-shaped pickguard in a dark tortoiseshell finish, three-on-a-plate tuning machines with ivory-colored plastic buttons, and a 60s Kalamazoo headstock with the Epiphone logo in elegant gold screen printing are further details that give the J-45 Studio EC even more vintage appeal. The J-45 Studio EC comes with Fishman electronics, including an S-Core pickup under the bridge saddle and a Fishman Presys II preamp with side-mounted controls for volume, bass, treble, and phase. It also features a convenient built-in tuner. The Epiphone J-45 Studio EC has a high-gloss finish and is available in two vintage-inspired colors. A standard gig bag is also included. A battery is not included. A 9-volt battery is required for the pickup.
