I’m offering a Gibson Les Paul Recording from 1971 – the first year of production of the most advanced model in Gibson’s early-70s catalog, designed by Les Paul himself specifically for studio use.
This is a construction completely different from a standard Les Paul: low-impedance pickups, an expanded filter section and electronics that were not used in any other Gibson model.
The Recording model was created during one of the most interesting moments in the company’s history — the Norlin Era (1969–1985). It was a period of intense experimentation, unconventional solutions and bold design ideas. The early 70s are now regarded as the most notable part of this era, as instruments were still being built in Kalamazoo, with a significant amount of hand-work and the characteristic “dense” tonal response.
The example I’m offering has preserved its fully original electronics and all functions from the first production year. The guitar has a natural, honest relic resulting from more than 50 years of use — exactly what you expect from an early Recording.
