The MA‑50BK is a transformerless solid‑state condenser microphone featuring a 1‑inch gold‑sputtered capsule with 3‑micron thickness, identical to Mojave’s MA‑200 and MA‑201fet models. The fixed cardioid pattern offers tight off‑axis rejection and fast transient capture, capable of handling SPL up to 125 dB with minimal distortion (<0.5 % @ 140 dB) and self‑noise below 16 dB A‑weighted  .

Users report clarity and realism exceeding many transformerless microphones at much higher price points, with particularly strong performance on vocals, acoustic instruments, drum overheads, percussion, and even upright bass  .
