this is a late 50s organ and it's got a really great sound. I have chopped around 40 M3 organs to date. they are the finest organ to get the classic sound of the Hammond B3 without the huge bulk of a B3, the weight, the cost, ect.. this organ weighs around 220 lbs, a chopped A100 or B3 weighs around 275. many studios around LA and touring groups have used chopped M3s that I have built. I forgot to mention, but the stand and dolly under it is not included and is not for sale
this organ does have cutouts that make it resemble a B3. there's really not much advantage to this other than people can see your hands a little easier.
I spend app a week, around 60 hours on each of these projects. this organ has a rebuilt amp, meaning I went through it replaced all the electrolytic capacitors, these are the caps most likely to go bad, some were already bad, but now they are all new and should provide you with nice clean sound with no bad hums or buzzes. I checked a lot of the resistors in the amp as well, and replaced a few as well. I check all the tubes with my very fine tube tester, and replaced around 4 tubes in the process. the organ has a volume control knob, you can see it to the left of the vibrato switches. the keys action has been restored to playing really nice and tight. lots of old Hammonds have sloppy noisy keys. I've always hated my Hammond to have to noisy keys and send these organs out that play nice and tight not noisy and loose. the organ has two outputs. one is very hot designed for a Leslie, the other is a beefed down signal suitable for a keyboard amp or guitar amp.
the biggest and most important job I did on this is the upper manual foldback, this adds app 60 tones that a standard M3 does not have. the B3s and C3s and such all have the foldback however the M3s do not, it has to be added, and when you're jamming on some great Greg Rolie solo you'll be glad you got the foldback.
if you're coming to Los Angeles and want to stop in please let me know, I'm app 15 minutes from downtown and app 40 minutes from Hollywood. I usually have Leslies to try the M3s out on
shipping is around $200-$450 to get it to you, naturally the further you are from LA the more expensive. the way I have shipped the last 3 organs in to have it shipped to a local warehouse near you and this saves around $80 in shipping. to get it to your door is going to cost more.
for references on many past projects I've done please see on YouTube, just type in Harold Branch chopped M3 and you'll find me
