Like all modules of the "Mutant Drums" series, the bass drum takes a proven circuit and mutates it strongly. In this case, it's an 808-BD that has been expanded to include pitch and decay voltage control, and a decent voltage-controlled distortion that can be used independently. In general, the Mutant Drums modules use much better components than the circuits on which they are based.

The tone pot controls, like the original 808, the timbre of the bass drum. The decay parameter allows crisp short to ever long bass drums and even extends to self-oscillation. The control range of the pitch parameter is very wide, ranging from sub-audio to frequencies that are suitable for TomToms. The pitch can be voltage controlled, even if the input does not respond to 1V / octave, so basslines can be easily created.
The bass drum is played by a pulse at the Trig input. Accenting the sound is possible through the accent input. An LED indicates when the bass drum is playing.

The bass drum sound is routed internally to the distortion and is available in its distorted form at the dist output. But since there is an audio input, you can use the distortion for all possible sounds. Both the input level and the degree of distortion can be controlled, the latter also voltage-controlled. Activity is visualized by an LED.
