My Morning Jacket Is Restocking Their Official Reverb Shop

My Morning Jacket is back on Reverb, loading more gear from their personal collection into their Official My Morning Jacket Reverb Shop, which opens today.

Few bands have managed to evolve as fearlessly—or sound as unmistakably their own—as My Morning Jacket. Formed in Louisville, Kentucky in the late '90s, the band quickly built a reputation on the strength of frontman Jim James’ haunting, reverb-drenched vocals and a sound that bridges Southern rock, cosmic Americana, and experimental psychedelia.

Their early records like The Tennessee Fire (1999) and At Dawn (2001) introduced a raw, atmospheric style rooted in loneliness and wide-open sonic landscapes, while It Still Moves (2003) and Z (2005) pushed their sound into more expansive, genre-blurring territory, combining swirling synths, dub-influenced grooves, and massive guitar riffs.

With albums like Evil Urges (2008) and Circuital (2011), My Morning Jacket continued to reinvent themselves, blending funk, soul, and experimental rock while maintaining their deeply emotional core. The band’s live shows have become legendary—lengthy, cathartic sets where improvisation and spiritual release are just as important as song structure.

MMJ's ability to shift from hushed intimacy to euphoric crescendo has earned them a place alongside the greats, often drawing comparisons to acts like Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Pink Floyd, and Radiohead.

Today, fans and musicians alike have another chance to own a piece of My Morning Jacket’s sonic story. The band is opening the vault and offering up more select gear from their personal collection, including studio- and stage-used amps, pedals, and other tools that have helped shape their signature sound across decades of recording and touring.

Whether you're chasing the tones from Z or just want a piece of MMJ history, this collection is a rare glimpse into the gear behind the magic.

Some of the gear on offer in their shop includes:

  • A Walrus Audio Plainsman that's been on Tom's pedalboard since 2016. "Primarily used whenever I would palm mute a song (i.e. "Touch Me Pt. 2," "Believe," "Lucky To Be Alive" etc.)."
  • Jim's Peavey Valverb used on guitars for It Still Moves and Z.
  • Carl's Fender Showman Combo that he got in Minneapolis for his live pedal steel rig.
  • Two Ampeg 6x10 cabs (with road cases) that Tom used from the Circuital tour in 2011 to late 2024. "We replaced the grilles with the blue/silver version to match the V4B heads that sat on top," Tom told us. "These still have the duct tape and chewing gum that held the tolex on for all those years of touring."
