In 1961, the Les Paul Standard was completely redesigned, resulting in a design that we now know as SG. The new Gibson SG Standard '61 retains the style of the original with a "slim taper" mahogany neck and a rosewood fingerboard with binding. The mahogany body is historically correct shaped, as well as the 5-ply pickguard and the neck the model of 1961. The pickups are newly developed 61R and 61T humbuckers. They provide a classic sound and are at 7.70 kOhm on the upper power limit of a good PAF pickup.
