Rare Mario Maccaferri Cutaway Baritone Islander Plastic (Dow Styron) Ukulele
(Please Read Entire Description!)
I am selling a rare Mario Maccaferri Cutaway Baritone Islander plastic (Dow Styron) ukulele. The soprano Islander is relatively common whereas the Baritone version is fairly rare.
I bought this Islander for my own personal use, but we’re drowning in ukuleles here and are running out of space to store them, so some have to go, plus I really do prefer soprano ukuleles to the larger cousins anyway.
The instrument dates back to the 1950s, with the Maccaferri website describing the Islander Baritone as 29” long, 10” wide, and 4” deep with a professional cutaway, an extended fingerboard, patented pegs, a rosewood-grained body (really?), an ivory face, and having a rich, deep resonant tone.
Before I owned it, the instrument suffered a cracked neck which was nicely repaired. It also has another crack on the bottom which has not been repaired but has no effect on the sound or performance. The action is a tad high but playable as is.
Please research this Mario Maccaferri Islander Baritone Ukulele carefully, consider the flaws noted, and ask questions before purchasing. There’s plenty of information about the Islander line of ukuleles on the Internet…just google Mario Maccaferri.
Note: We ship only to the lower 48 states.
