In September 1951, the search for a new name for the "Nocaster" came to an end. For the Fender executives, "Telecaster" had the same connection to the then-fashionable television as the original name "Broadcaster," since with this guitar they had also launched something what was a really new thing. Aside from the Telecaster sticker below the Fender logo on the headstock, nothing changed initially - technically and visually, all remained the same.
And it was precisely such an early Telecaster that served as the model for the one shown here. The bright "Nocaster Blonde" finish, the solid brass saddles responsible for the crisp and incredibly fat sound, and all the screws, right down to the truss rod, are in slot-head configuration.
And it's exact this early Telecaster that served as the basis for the model shown here. One modification to the '51 original, which we were delighted to incorporate, finds its inspiration in numerous custom builds from later years: the humbucker in the neck position simply sounds too brilliant for rock riffs and makes a fantastic complement to the single coil in bridge position.
Visually, the Nocaster/Telecaster shown here was intended to convey the feel of a well-used tool, and Fender Master Builder Kyle McMillin has really achieved this goal! The typical, slightly protruding edge of the neck pocket was meticulously recreated, as was the perfect aging of countless details.
Finally, it's worth mentioning how magnificent this work of art sounds: lightning-fast in its response, explosive, and full of dynamics – an absolute prime example of a top-class Telecaster.
