At The Fellowship of Acoustics, we frequently see magnificent Collings guitars pass through our shop, but it is less widely known that the company has also been building ukuleles in Austin, Texas, for several years.
The UC1 is Collings' most affordable concert ukulele, yet it is certainly not a budget instrument. It is crafted with the same attention to detail as any other Collings ukulele, but the appointments are kept to the essentials, allowing the company to offer a high-quality instrument at an accessible price point.
Thanks to its rich, dark stain, the UC1 has an aesthetic reminiscent of a vintage Martin. Although the instrument features a minimalist design, the wood grain is stunning: the mahogany displays a beautiful, even pattern with a hint of figure, and the rosewood components also boast a lovely grain.
This 2010 Collings UC1 is in near-mint condition, showing only minimal signs of play on the top and a single ding on the back of the headstock. Collings guitars are renowned for their impeccable craftsmanship, so it comes as no surprise that their ukuleles are built to the same exacting standards—the quality is evident in every detail.
This guitar has been carefully inspected for condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
