For sale this hybrid vintage / modern Neumann U67 tube microphone with a very rare 1960’s "big mesh" head and translucent capsule assembly. This U67 is powered by an original Neumann modern reissue tube amplifier with a brand new Schaal Audio PSU combination.

To understand this microphone it needs some explaining. Previous owner of this microphone had this spare vintage head and bottom bell from the 1960’s in his inventory and decided to mate it with a reissue original Neumann U67 tube amplifier. The head is most likely from the earliest batches U67, its mesh is comparable to the mesh of the M49. I have another U67 in my inventory with similar big mesh head that comes with rock solid provenance from a closed down EMI studio, I am almost sure that the head from the mic I am selling here came from the same studio. I have seen vintage big mesh heads for U67 sporadically on the market, they are very scarce. The translucent perspex capsule base is additional proof of its vintage.

Normally i would not be that interested to stock this type of mic due to its mixed origin but this one is the exception. The result of “old head / capsule with modern amp” has produced a fantastic result because this is a beautiful sounding U67, a solid plug and play combination. Some might call this a "Franken Neumann" but I would rather call it "parts that lovingly found each other". You can buy this mic with confidence if you are looking for a great sounding studio workhorse. Please understand that all parts of this mic except the psu and cable are original Neumann.

On this mic the head assembly and the bottom closing bell are vintage, the tube amplifier body and the body sleeve are modern. This mic comes with an original vintage vinyl storage case and a brand new Schaal Audio psu and cable combination. Contact me for details about this stunning sounding microphone, I am happy to tell you the story. Please buy this microphone only if you agree with its condition. The shipping quote from this microphone is higher than average due its value.
