The back and sides of the Collection Series instruments are crafted from African Blackwood. This rosewood is highly regarded by many guitar makers as the finest-sounding rosewood on the planet. Its deep color reveals its beautiful grain in bright light.

The top is crafted from an old batch of exceptionally hard Sitka Bearclaw. Only one-third of the tops considered were deemed suitable for this production run. The color alone reveals the wood's age. The top has not been stained or toned in any way.

The neck is crafted from extremely rare Pernambuco, now available only on Collection Series instruments. We have preserved the wood's natural color. The color ranges from vibrant orange to milky white. The incredible thing about this wood is that it has a faster sound velocity than any other wood. Anyone who buys a $35,000 violin bow will be buying one made from Pernambuco.

When the first one of these was assembled, I thought, "Wow, this sounds great!" It has a very uniform sound, unlike any acoustic guitar I've ever made. Plus, the neck width is something we've never tried before; it's right in between the Martin Simpson and Tony McManus models. I absolutely love it!

This instrument is intended to be a "concert-level," high-quality heirloom guitar, and I believe it will continue to enjoy this reputation for years to come.
