Vintage 1950's General Electric 97U29 / Shure 510 microphone Hi Z 99H86 w period Atlas DS7 desk stand # 2

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 You are looking at a very unique General Electric 97U29 model controlled magnetic microphone based on the more common Shure Brothers 510C model "Hercules". This 97U29 comes with an original short cable and period Atlas DS-7 model desk stand shown. 

 Pic # 2 is from an old Shure catalog showing this very model mic and it's basic characteristics.

 It should be noted right away that this microphone has been cleaned and tested. The microphone still has the original element and it's a Shure 99H86 / 750 Controlled Reluctance type. It's the White label. The red print on the label is faded severely in spots which is common but with a magnifying glass you can see the 99H86.

 This element actually is very desirable for harp use and the output on this mic is 100%. Very healthy. Very dirty tone that purposely lacks any bass at all.

 This General Electric 97U29 model came with it's own distinct blue grey / paint scheme and General Electric badge and insignia. Otherwise the all metal body was identical to the Shure model sold. The painted body on this mic shows just very lite wear. Very tiny paint chips and scratches. Otherwise quite nice overall.

 This little mic has a bit of weight to it being an all metal construction. The original burgundy colored cloth screen has zero rips or odors and it's perfectly colored. It's appx 4 inches tall (with the lower adapter attached) X 2 1/2 inches wide. The G.E badge and logo are still present and show just very lite wear. Please let the detailed pics be your guide. This mic was designed to sit on it's own or to be mounted to a taller desk or floor stand. This example does have the adapter attached to the bottom of the mic so it will fit any stand you have though the stand shown is included.

 The mic has a short cable that's just 6 inches in length. It's still soft and pliable. Comes with the quality Switchcraft male XLR end connector that is properly wired. Simply use any longer XLR cable of choice as an extension to your audio equipment and you're good to go.

 The 97U29 is an easy 8 on  a scale of 1 - 10. This will make a great display piece for any mic collection but don't be afraid to hook it up for every day use. Will make a great HAM radio mic.

 Again, the stand is a 1950's era Atlas DS-7 adjustable model with the polished chrome risers and painted cast iron base. The DS-7 makes for a very stable platform and compliments the mic nicely as they are period to each other and the stand is about cosmetically the same as the mic. 

 You can adjust the height from a low of 11 inches tall to a full height of 16 inches if needed.

 The weight of the base makes this mic hard to tip over as well.

 This stand has fresh paint that's just about perfect. The chrome risers show lite wear in the form of scratches and scuff marks. The base has the 3 original rubber pads in perfect shape and keep the base from scratching any surface it may rest on.
