Beautiful and excellent example of a Teisco Del Rey model ET-460 "Shark Fin" (also known as K4L), made in Japan in 1966. The guitar comes in its iconic and highly collectible original Metallic Blue finish. A holy grail of 1960s Japanese "bizarre" vintage guitars, famous for its 4+2 shark fin headstock and space-age hardware layout. Stunning overall condition for its 60 years of age. The finish on the top, back, and neck shows very little chronological wear. Minor signs of use are located exclusively along the edges of the body. The original "Teisco Del Rey" logo on the headstock is perfectly intact. Please note a vintage period-correct engraving on the wood with a secondary number ("0441127"), which is also present internally on the bridge plate under the tailpiece cover, proving the historical coevality of the instrument. Original neck plate with model stamp and serial number 270553.
4 original single-coil pickups. Original striped satin/chrome pickguard. Controls: 4 individual ON/OFF switches, 3-way rotary "Bass/Treble" selector, 1 volume, 1 tone. The electronics are fully functional. Due to long periods of unuse, the switches may benefit from a standard cleaning with contact cleaner spray to eliminate minor crackles. Straight neck with a zero fret. Original frets are in good shape with some minor fret buzz on the 1st string (high E) around frets 12-14. The 22nd fret (originally missing) has been professionally restored/replaced. Hardware: Adjustable bridge, original vibrato system with its period-correct original tremolo arm, and open-gear vintage tuners. Includes a soft gig bag. An exceptional piece for vintage Japanese collectors or anyone looking for unique surf/garage tones. Available for any testing. No trades or exchanges. Accepted Payment Methods:
