The Marquis D-28 offers "Golden era appointments" with an Adirondack spruce top and East Indian rosewood sides, back and head plate. Abalone diamonds and squares inlays on the ebony fretboard. Bone saddle, nut and bridge pins. Nickel open gear tuning machines, scalloped bracing (brace size 5/16"). Forward shifted x-brace, dovetail neck joint, 16" fretboard radius. End pin is ebony with abalone dot. Snakewood strap button on lower side of heel.

Body of guitar has a gloss tobacco burst finish. The neck has a satin finish.

This guitar has been lightly played over the 20 years. I've owned it. I am the original owner. All work done to it was done at the Martin factory in Nazareth. This work was in 2020, and involved replacing the bridge (which was starting to lift due to a problem in construction process so I was told) replacing the nut/saddle, and minor finish touch ups on soundboard adjacent to bridge. It was also set up during this visit and still plays like a dream up and down the neck.

I generally keep my guitars tuned down a step (D) in standard tuning. As you can see from one of the pictures, when you place a straight edge along the frets, it passes right over the bridge which means it's a very long way from needing a neck reset. There's also oodles of room in the saddle to make adjustments to action or intonation, although the intonation is excellent as it is.

I think I captured the slight scratching/scuffing on the sound board around the fretboard extension, the small ding in the soundboard, and the upper bout top side. A couple very small spots on the sides where there are finish imperfections.

It's an AMAZING sounding guitar, and truly a cannon, but it was never really what I was looking for. It sat unused for many years. It is time to part with it.
