I am offering a Twinsound Cream JTA40 Tweedsound from 2012, a crafted in Lüneburg, Lower Saxony (Germany), “point-to-point” hand-wired 40-watt tube premium head with two-channel design, each with two separate High/Low inputs, two 12AX7 and 12AY7 preamp tubes, two 5881 (6L6) power tubes, GZ34 tube rectifier, separate volume controls per channel and shared presence, 2-band EQ and master controls and 8-ohm speaker output in a beautiful deluxe finish in solid spruce with tweed finish, leather carrying handle and vintage-style oxblood with gold stripes front grill in excellent condition

Under the brand name Cream, the boutique tube amplifier manufacturer Twinsound has been building outstanding tube amplifiers since 2005 with a small team of experienced amp technicians in Lüneburg, northern Germany, based on the classic models from the 1950s and 1960s. All Cream amplifiers are therefore “hand-wired” and equipped with select components from specialized tube amplifier and cabinet manufacturers with a long tradition in tube technology, which gives the amplifiers their sought-after vintage tube sound.

The Cream JTA40 Tweed Sound from 2012 presented here is clearly inspired, both sonically and conceptually, by classic American Fender Tweed amps of the late 1950s, yet reinterprets this concept with the highest level of craftsmanship. The uncompromising point-to-point hand-wiring guarantees not only maximum signal purity but also exceptional dynamics and response, as found only in hand-built boutique amps.

The combination of 12AX7 and 12AY7 preamp tubes ensures a particularly musical gain structure with plenty of headroom in the clean range and an organically engaging overdrive. The two 5881 (6L6) power tubes deliver a punchy, warm foundation with tight bass and silky highs, while the GZ34 tube rectifier provides the typical, slightly compressed response known from Tweed amps.

The two-channel design, featuring Bright and Normal channels—each with separate High and Low inputs—allows for versatile tone variations. Through “channel jumping” (connecting the inputs with patch cables), both channels can be blended together to create additional tones ranging from crystal-clear cleans to creamy vintage overdrive à la “Sultans of Swing.”

The tone control with Bass, Treble, and Presence is extremely musical and allows for precise adjustment to different playing styles, while the Master control delivers impressive results even at moderate volumes. Sonically, the amp ranges from warm, dynamic clean tones to an open, smoky overdrive with plenty of character, making it ideal for blues, classic rock, indie, and even funk with dynamic playing.

Visually, this head is a real highlight: The solid spruce cabinet with classic tweed finish, leather handle, and the elegant oxblood grill cloth with gold stripes gives the amp an authentic vintage aesthetic of the highest caliber.
