The Crayon is Electro Harmonix donation towards "transparent overdrive". Transparent Overdrive pedals have a very balanced basic sound, the existing "mid nose" is lacking in many other overdrive pedals - the basic sound of guitar and amp is affected only slightly. But the Crayon can do even more - with the strong gripping 2-band EQ the pedal can be perfectly adapted to the equipment used. The range of the gain controller is also extensive, and very heavy overdrive sounds possible, The Crayon is a useful booster and responds very well to the guitar volume.
