A Modern Evolution of the “Killswitch” Stutter Effect

Stutter is the art of transforming a continuous signal into rhythmic slices: sharp cuts, nervous repetitions, and mechanical accents. Historically, this effect was achieved through “hands-on” techniques such as pickup selectors, volume cuts, or external switches, eventually becoming a language of its own in rock, electronic, and experimental music.

The Telegraph V2 follows in this tradition, but takes it much further. Beyond simple on/off operation, it introduces an interactive approach with an active circuit, an adjustable Burst mode, and control options designed for modern pedalboards and studio setups.

Modes, Controls and Connectivity: A Pedal Designed Like an Instrument

At the heart of the Telegraph V2 is its immediate stutter operation, enhanced by Burst Mode: an automatic tremolo-style chopping effect whose speed is controlled via the Burst potentiometer, ranging from 110 BPM up to extremely high speeds. This allows you to move from a subtle rhythmic flutter to a rapid-fire, percussive burst, with a response that can evoke some of the pickup-selector techniques used on guitars equipped with dual humbuckers.

A polarity selector provides two creative behaviors: Kill (the burst is activated only when you press) or Activate (the signal remains silent until you press). Combined with the choice between momentary and latching operation (with the option to disable the latch function internally), this gives you a pedal that can work either as an occasional effect or as a permanent rhythmic tool.

For advanced setups, the Telegraph V2 accepts a 10k expression pedal to control the Burst speed, and offers CV clock synchronization for integration with a sequencer, drum machine, or DAW environment via the appropriate conversion. Finally, CopperSound Smart Bypass provides an intuitive playing experience: press to engage, hold to operate in momentary mode.

The Sound

The Telegraph V2 does not “color” your sound in the way an overdrive or delay does. Its signature lies in the shape of the sound. It carves the envelope into sharp, precise cuts that can turn a sustained chord into something almost percussive, or transform a monophonic line into a tight rhythmic pattern.

In Burst Mode, the effect ranges from a steady pulse to a rapid-fire machine-gun effect, with a highly instrument-like feel under your fingers thanks to the responsiveness of the controls.
