The Gibson ES175 is an absolute legend among hollowbody guitars, and this 1965 example perfectly demonstrates why this model has been inspiring guitarists for decades!

This ES175D model is equipped with two Patent Number humbuckers that give the guitar enormous versatility to excel in various musical styles, although a guitar like this naturally lends itself perfectly to jazz music. The original potentiometers are still present in the guitar, ensuring that the tone and volume of the pickups are easy to adjust.

Additionally, the guitar has been refretted, and the tuning machines have been replaced with vintage Grover Rotomatics featuring a patent number on the body. The nickel tailpiece has been replaced with an original chrome Gibson tailpiece, and the four control knobs are replacement units from Crazy Parts. On the back of the headstock, a chip is visible in the wood near the G-string tuning mechanism.

The Gibson ES175, known as the workhorse of the jazz guitar, is an iconic hollowbody electric guitar, beloved by many legendary guitarists in the world of jazz, blues, rock, and fusion. Although the ES175 is associated with jazz greats like Jim Hall, Pat Metheny, and Joe Pass, its versatile sound and ability to handle distortion have made it a favorite of fusion and rock guitarists such as Steve Howe (Yes) and Buck Dharma, who played an ES175 on the classic "Don't Fear the Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult.

The model was introduced by Gibson in 1949 as the more affordable alternative to the more expensive guitars in the range, such as the L4. The guitar was equipped with a laminated maple body featuring a 'Florentine cutaway'. This construction makes the guitar lighter and more resistant to feedback, which could occur more easily in guitars with a solid body.

This is simply a beautifully preserved vintage Gibson that shines in its original finish, and thanks to the vintage and period-correct replacement parts, it is a guitar bursting with character!
