1948–49 Fender Champion 600 “TV Front”

Up for sale is a rare 1948–49 Fender Champion 600 “TV Front.” In 1948, Fender introduced the Champion 800 model with an 8" speaker, but later that year it was redesigned as the Champion 600 with a 6" speaker.

This particular amp still retains its original Champion 800 sticker inside the cabinet, with the “800” crossed out and “600” handwritten in its place. This makes it one of the earliest Champion 600s produced - among the first approximately 1,300 units manufactured and shipped between late 1948 and the end of 1949. The serial number is 1141.

The amp has been serviced in the past. The power cord, fuse holder, and several capacitors have been replaced to keep it safe and functional. Otherwise, it remains all original.

The handle is broken (see pictures), but it has been retained to preserve the amp’s original appearance (modern reproductions never look quite as cool). It sounds fantastic, delivering the classic tweed overdriven tone when turned all the way up.

Sold as is. Vintage amplifiers require regular maintenance, and I recommend having the amp inspected by a qualified technician after purchase.
