Reinhart Effects Snake's Head Fuzz
This pedal is designed and assembled by Jacob Reinhart in Toledo Ohio.
The "Snake's Head Fuzz" is a specialized signature pedal handcrafted by Jacob Reinhart for guitarist Kaleb Riser. The name is a clever, reptile-themed wordplay honoring the legendary "Ram's Head" Electro-Harmonix Big Muff (which Riser's band famously used to record every song on their debut album, Ophidian Future). However, while the name tips its hat to the Ram's Head, the internal architecture is entirely different. The pedal functions as a heavy dual-footswitch fuzz and octave machine, combining two highly distinct analog flavors into one enclosure:
1. The "Bite" Section (The Core Fuzz)The right footswitch, paired with a red LED, activates the main fuzz engine.
- The Circuit: Instead of a Ram's Head blueprint, Jacob utilized his proprietary "Eastern European Fuzz" circuit. This is an exacting clone of the highly coveted vintage Sovtek "Green Russian" Big Muff from the 1990s.
- The Sound & Mod: Green Russian circuits are famous for having a massive, smooth low-end boom and a gritty midrange response. To make this signature model more versatile, Reinhart added an external Mid-Range control knob. This allows the player to scoop the mids for a classic heavy wall-of-sound, or boost the mids so the guitar can cleanly slice through a loud live band mix.
2. The "Venom" Section (The Octave)The left footswitch, paired with a green LED, introduces the octave effect.
- The Circuit: This side is Jacob's custom take on the vintage Dan Armstrong Green Ringer circuit (similar in functionality to the modern EarthQuaker Devices Tentacle). It is an analog, transformerless upper-octave generator.
- Independent Routing: You can run this side completely by itself to achieve clean, metallic, ring-modulation-like clean boosts.
Stacking the SnakesWhen you step on both the Bite and Venom switches simultaneously, the two circuits cascade into one another. The Green Russian fuzz slams into the octave engine to deliver searing, hyper-saturated, shrieking Hendrix "Band of Gypsys"-style octave-fuzz lead tones.
