A vintage 1965 Fender Precision Bass is always a special find, and this Candy Apple Red example is truly a sight to behold! The P-Bass has undoubtedly shaped the history of pop music since its introduction in 1951, and mid-Sixties examples are among the most sought-after and prized basses among collectors and professional musicians.

This 1965 Precision Bass shines in its beautiful Candy Apple Red finish, an iconic color that Fender introduced in 1963 to replace Shell Pink. Fender applied the color to an Inca Silver undercoat in the early years, but switched to a gold undercoat in 1965 that gave the Candy Apple Red a richer and slightly darker hue, as we can see on this Precision Bass!

At the heart of this P-Bass is the powerful single coil pickup, which delivers that unmistakable deep, full and punchy P-Bass sound that you hear on thousands of classic recordings. The original 3-ply mint green pickguard is a beautiful detail that contrasts perfectly with the fiery red finish.

The alder body provides the perfect balance between weight and tone, while the maple neck with its comfortable C-profile and rosewood fingerboard provides superior playability. The original open-gear tuners and 4-saddle bridge keep this vintage Precision perfectly in tune. At 4.1 kg, this bass is also pleasantly light, which makes long performances a lot more comfortable.

The bass is in excellent condition for its age, with normal playwear that only enhances the character of this instrument. On the technical side, we find a shim in the neck pocket to optimize the neck angle. Under the pickguard we find two original Stackpole potentiometers from the 20th week of 1965, and the output is also original. Furthermore, we see the date stamp 5MAY65C on the neck, and this indicates a P-Bass neck from May 1965 with a nut width of 44.5 mm. The pickup is also original, and the date May 10, 1965 is written on it.

An authentic vintage Precision Bass like this one not only offers a legendary sound, but is also a piece of music history that will only continue to increase in value. If you are a bassist looking for that unparalleled vintage P-Bass tone, this '65 Precision in Candy Apple Red is an exceptional opportunity that you should not miss!
