We are selling this super rare Farfisa 7X midi expander synth & polyphonic rhythm module & sequencer, made in Italy in 1990s!
SERIAL NUMBER: U4750628
CONDITIONS: This Farfisa 7X is a very multi-purpose high-quality item. It’s fully working and cosmetically in very good condition. It performs as if it was brand new: ideal for organs, keyboards, midi production or just as stand-alone accompaniment unit. It comes with the original Farfisa power supply! The power supply produces a slight hiss/whine. This is typical for this Farfisa model and does not appear in recordings, but we mention it for the sake of accuracy. We have also a PDF english manual copy of th 7X-II version that is very similar. When new, this unit sold for around $3,000!
IMPORTANT: The unit is fully working and in very good cosmetical conditions with some traces of use, but we only tested the music functions of the expander with its internal sounds and rhythms. We do not have floppy disks or TV connections to test all the other functions, but - given the state of conservation of the instrument - there should be no problems also for the more advanced functions. Sold AS-IS, only tested as a vintage midi expander, please see all photos.
DESCRIPTION: The Farfisa 7X is a multi-functional music generative device capable of all sorts of auto accompaniment features as well as sophisticated real time harmonization capabilities. It has a wide assortment of fantastic sounds, which are further enhanced by the four on-board signal processors. The bottom line is it's a hardware band-in-a-box with ability to process live signals as well. 128 sounds plus drum kits, 16 track sequencer, 2 mic/line inputs for vocal harmonizer or effects processor. Drums are either preset or user manual, full programmable and editable. Connections-outputs left and right, headphones, pedals, midi in/out/through. A really cool feature is the mic/audio inputs, you can run a signal through the built-in effect processor or the vocal harmonization!
Farfisa 7X (usually called Seven X) has 128 sounds, a light display, reverb and chorus. It allows you to save 16 custom voices and includes an arranger section consisting of 72 accompaniment styles. The reasons of interest on the market, compared to the competition of the time, consist in the presence of two inputs: on the one hand it is possible to connect a guitar and enrich its sound with overdrive and distortion, on the other it is possible to exploit the second microphone input to connect a microphone and access vocoder and harmonizer effects; this last aspect, together with the fact of being a valid MIDI base reader with the ability to display lyrics on the screen and SCART connection to TV monitors, makes it very interesting for singers shows. We cannot then leave the additional ability to connect an accordion. In summary, in addition to the 16-track sequencer, 7X is in fact a versatile product and can be used as an arranger module, as a simple expander, as a standard MIDI file reader or as a device for singers events.
It is a very great module with very good technical and musical features. It has everything that was required at the time: complete arrangement section with variations, fill-in, intro and ending, a good General MIDI compatible sound palette, large LCD display, Floppy player with integrated sequencer, double microphone input with the possibility of effects and video output for Karaoke! This cool instrument is multi-timbral with 16 parts and polyphony is 24 notes. The architecture and functions of the expander are excellent and the styles and sounds included are well made and super cool!
