A classic British amplifier company finally makes its way over the pond! The Orange MK Ultra Marcus King Signature Head marks a first for Orange, being designed and built in the United States. This 30-watt, handwired amplifier represents a fresh new formula for Orange — it is not voiced after or designed to replicate any amp from their storied past, instead representing a bold new tonal direction that was devised in collaboration with Grammy-nominated artist Marcus King. Like the genre-defying sound of its namesake, the MK Ultra offers a wealth of tones that cover everything from warm jazz to all-out crunch, with articulate pedal-ready cleans when turned down low and beautiful high-gain saturation when cranked. What’s more, the highly interactive 3-knob controls are voiced by Marcus to be touch responsive and offer stage-ready sounds in any combination, removing the need for endless setup and knob twiddling.

Intuitive 3-knob design

Perhaps the most surprising element of the MK Ultra’s design is the simple 3-knob layout, comprised of Volume, Sing (treble), and Deep (bass) controls. Built to provide exceptional tonal versatility without endless knob adjustments, these controls are all highly interactive with each other, rewarding those who like to take the time to explore their idiosyncrasies.

Volume: Just like a volume control on a guitar, this knob is just as useful as a tone-shaping tool. The MK Ultra’s Cathode biased design offers a quick, direct attack on lower settings, making it perfect for at-home recording as a pedal platform. As you increase the volume, the MK Ultra reacts as every great tube amp should, with an increased spongy saturation that's easily dialed down with your guitar’s volume control.

Sing/Deep: These are essentially the same as a treble/bass control on a typical amplifier, but the frequency range of the MK Ultra was specifically voiced for Marcus so that almost any tonal combination is usable — in the words of Orange: “it’s impossible to dial in a bad sound!”

TAILORED EQ FIT FOR A “KING”

This one-of-a-kind circuit design features EQ controls in different parts of the circuit that are totally independent. The specific ranges and frequencies of these controls were voiced for Marcus, making it impossible to dial in a bad sound.
