The top is made of Two pieces of spruce and show regular and thin grain lines. The back is made of a single piece of faintly flamed maple. The ribs , neck, and scroll are made of the same wood, and original to the instrument. The varnish is amber-brown , on a golden ground.
The violin is in good condition with some important wear on the right edge near the f hole, showing it has been intensively played, which is always a good indication of a violins quality. the violin was made based on the Stainer model. On the neck can be found a stamp in the form of a star. We do not know who used this stamp. Under the button, a pevious owner engraved his family name, ( Baumgartner ) Violin has just been fully setup and checked. New Aubert deluxe Bridge and sound post Evah Pirazzi Strings
A superb violin
Body Length : 360mm
Upper Bouts : 167mm
Middle bouts : 110mm
Lower bouts : 204mm
The violin has a pleasant mature sound, with some Baroque accents. Not a powerhouse but has a dry sweet sound, responsive and warm. Would suit an advancing student wanting a mature older violin.
