For sale: a Roland R-8M Total Percussion Sound Module in good condition. Works perfectly and has some scratch marks on the surface. This is the rack-mounted sound engine of the legendary Roland R-8 drum machine.

The R-8M has the full R-8 sound set and the ability to read R-8 expansion sound cards. Pair it with your DAW or hardware sequencer and you have one of the most characterful drum modules of the late 80s and early 90s at your fingertips.

68 internal sounds at 44.1kHz / 16-bit, 8 individual outputs, 12-voice polyphony, and 4-part multitimbral MIDI make this a seriously capable module for studio work. You can assign drums to individual outputs and run them into separate channels on a desk, ideal for studio work or adding individual FX inserts. And with three card slots for SN-R8 PCM expansion cards, the sound palette can be expanded well beyond the already solid internal library.

Most sounds are fully editable and the Feel Patches add subtle humanisation to your patterns that you just don't get from samples alone. It was used by Orbital, Underworld, Autechre, 808 State, Human League and The Shamen, among many others.
