We regularly come across the most beautiful recreations from the Fender Custom Shop here at The Fellowship of Acoustics, but this 1966 Precision Bass is the real deal! The mid-Sixties examples are among the most sought after and prized basses among collectors and professional musicians.

Fender introduced the Precision Bass in 1951, and its big sound and indestructible build completely changed the music world. Despite the single pickup, the bass is extremely versatile, and this is also evident from the fact that you can encounter the Precision Bass in any musical situation. The alder body of the bass is wrapped in one of Fender's custom colors, Olympic White. The tortoise pickguard completes the picture, and the maple neck with rosewood veneer fingerboard is still very smooth to play. The original open-gear tuners and 4-saddle bridge keep this vintage Precision perfectly in tune.

The bass is in excellent condition for its age, with normal playwear that only enhances the character of this instrument. On the technical side, we find a small shim in the neck pocket to optimize the neck angle. Under the pickguard we find two original CTS potentiometers from the 42nd week of 1965. Furthermore, we see the date stamp 5JAN66C on the neck, and this indicates a P-Bass neck from January 1966 with a top nut width of 44.5 mm. Finally, under the chrome cover we find a Grey Bottom single coil pickup. The bass has been refretted and the nut has also been replaced. An improvised binding was once applied along the edge of the body, and this has left a lighter colored line in the paint.

An authentic vintage Precision Bass like this one not only offers a legendary sound, but is also a piece of music history that will only continue to increase in value. If you are a bassist looking for that unparalleled vintage P-Bass sound, this '66 Precision Bass in Olympic White is an exceptional opportunity that you should not miss!
