The SG1000: Yamaha's Original Model!
Development of Yamaha electric guitars began around 1965.
The late Genichi Kawakami, then president, instructed the staff to create an all-original electric guitar.
This led to the development of the Yamaha SG.
The SG1000, released in 1976, is a representative SG model that remains beloved today.
Features introduced with the SG1000 include the Bi-Sound System, which coil-taps the humbucking pickup to achieve a single-ended sound, and a Direct Circuit, which prevents ground drop that detracts from the high frequencies of the sound itself.
The sound is extremely warm and rich with full low mids.
The rich low mids also produce a P-90-like thickness when switched to Bi-Sound mode.
The SG1000 is SG's "standard model," built in the spirit of the SG2000.
A must-have when talking about Japanese vintage guitars!
