Here is a turn-of-the-20th-century cornet in original silver plate! Beautiful engraving with a blank spot on the bell, meaning this is a stencil cornet, most probably made by Bohland and Fuchs. Everything moves and functions well, and the valves move smoothly with good compression given its age. The cornet plays in high (A~452-557Hz) and low pitch with slides pull out (A=440Hz), like most cornets at the time. Intonation is good throughout the range, especially with the period non-original mouthpiece it comes with. This is a perfect cornet for a beginning collector, as well as anyone who wants a cornet to play in their community brass bands, especially civil war reenactment bands!
