LZX Industries Vidiot

Vidiot by LZX Industries is a powerful, standalone semi-modular video synthesizer that includes all you need to get started with video synthesis. Vidiot is divided into two halves and a T-shaped section that both halves share. on the left is the luma processor which produces and manipulates video signals in black and white. on the right is the colorizer which converts raw signals into any combination of red, green and blue. each of these two halves has an 8-position input selector for quick and easy signal routing. across the top of Vidiot's front panel is a pair of voltage-controlled oscillators joined by means of a central crossfader, and running down the central column is a variety of patch points providing direct access to various waveforms created by the oscillators and more, including both vertical and horizontal sine, square and triangle waveforms as well as circle, diamond and cross shapes, white noise, a feed from the video input and an external audio envelope follower. at the bottom of the central section is a pair of key generators - one for the luma processor and the other for the colorizer.

each feature, while compact enough to fit in the diminutive Vidiot's enclosure, is far from basic, and the Vidiot's eight dual concentric potentiometers pack as much intuitive power into the synth as possible. for instance, each of the two VCOs can be directly controlled by the main knob while voltage control can be introduced with the outer ring of the pot acting as an attenuator. add a CV inversion switch and you have all you need to coax unruly CV into shape. each primary feature has the same control signal chain, with both inversion switch and attenuator, making all 3 channels of the colorizer, all 3 functions of the luma processor and both VCOs incredibly easy to use with any signal source - internal or external. such attention to detail in the design makes Vidiot truly a one-stop video synthesis shop - no external attenuverters or signal sources needed to get going!

• oscillator sync - activate to produce static (or modulated) vertical and horizontal bands or deactivate for free-running, wild oscillations, or even sync to external devices for a different flavor of modulation
• external video input to the luma processor for using the Vidiot as a video effect processor

• external sync jack and sync lock switch for use with Visual Cortex or any other video sync generator
