this model is the chrome top versionspecial derek and the domino's live record voicing. deeper and more soulful than our regular italia.

seems like everyone is chasing the incredible 60s jen -made wah tone THE HOLY GRAIL!   a few years ago we set out to figure it out. our extensive process resulted in capturing the elusive, rainbow-like, 'SQUISHY' tone that wah freaks consider one of the best classic wah tones of all time
 -- the late 60s italian made jen made 'filmcan' inductor wah.

wah aficionados everywhere have praised the authenticity of the tone of this great pedal. read the raves at 'gear page' , 'DAM forum' and other guitar forums.

- absolute minimum of parts used, for the most pure signal path. compare to other ''vintage style' or boutique wahs, we simply have the lowest parts count around.

-new gagan hand wound inductor made in-house by gagan to recreate the inductance, resistance and harmonic sweetness of the filmcan originals. you must play it and feel it to truly appreciate the response! ( not shown in some photos)

- trimpots for PRE VOL, volume and bias to tailor the tone to your specific needs and guitar. as sent the wah contains the classic gagan tune 

-specially selected NOS and new parts for pure vintage response.

- each wah tuned by joe gagan in the final setup process, using marshall & fender tube amps with a great strat and ibanez artist classic 2 humbucker ( LP style) guitars. This assures that every italia has that near perfect 60s tone that made the early voxes famous. this is not an assembly line wah!

- low gain, low noise npn transistors for era-correct tones and world class low hiss.

- all old stock USA carbon comp resistors for true era correct tone.
- frequency caps socketed for user tuning. extra caps in the parts kit- 'body' trimpot allows you to tune the fatness and center frequency of the gain hump.

-famous Castledine 100k ICAR taper pot. A very durable pot, which gets the true vintage tone due to the carbon construction. Modern plastic pots do not sound as warm in our tests.  no cost option: 1996 era NEW old stock clarostat hotpotz1 made for dunlop, for people wanting that faster quack. please, you must message us at time of checkout for this option.-power jack: modern 2.1 mm power supply input w/ reverse polarity protection and modern filtering.
POT adjust: as delivered, the italia has its max frequency range adjusted on the pot's gears. there is no more treble or bass available than the stock adjustment, however you could lessen treble at top end by adjusting it yourself. this will not increase bass, only lessen treble. do not attempt to get more treble, it is already all the way up, you would damage the pot when switching if turned any further to treble side.

TUNING:

set BIAS first. this is the key to low end and growl. once the voicing is where you want it, then set volumes and other trims.

there is a wee treble element to the way the two volumes work. if you want more spectrum and harmonics, turn PRE VOL UP and VOL down. for a more traditional wah sound without the enhanced treble, do the reverse of that.  important to note, this affects the bass end more than anything else, with the enhanced treble. your notes will retain a little more presence or attack. in addition, you will hear a more organic guitar tone throughout the full range. the downside of the enhanced treble is that with heavy gain, you may notice you are effectively wiping out some of the bass signal as fuzz or gain are designed to really hit on mids and treb in most cases. 

sockets are for setting frequency center. wah is shipped to gagan's 'derek and the dominos' live reccord tone.

smaller numeric cap values will cause the frequency center to go higher, larger values will make it deeper or lower. the sockets are parallel pairs, caps are ADDITIVE, in other words, add the cap values for overall value. stock 60s vox was .01 , for reference.
