I am offering a beautiful 1996 Gibson SG Standard finished in classic Heritage Cherry, preserved in its original factory specification and supplied with its original Gibson hard case and paperwork.

The most distinctive feature of this example is the extensive, completely natural nitrocellulose lacquer checking visible across the body, neck and headstock. It has developed evenly over the years and gives the guitar an outstanding authentic vintage appearance. This is genuine ageing of the original finish, not artificial relic work.

The guitar retains its original Gibson hardware, electronics and pickups. The original Gibson USA humbuckers deliver the sound associated with the best SG Standards of the 1990s: a warm, articulate neck position and a powerful, focused bridge tone with excellent response under gain.

Condition

The guitar is in very good vintage condition.

The original nitrocellulose finish displays extensive natural lacquer checking throughout the instrument. There are also minor marks and signs of normal use appropriate for a guitar of this age. The checking is particularly attractive and gives the SG a genuine vintage character that cannot be reproduced convincingly through artificial ageing.
