Gibson's M2M, Made 2 Measure, program offers people the opportunity to create something different from the standard Custom Shop models being produced. This time, the decision was made to go for the 'Holy Grail' and give the 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue a beautiful Ice Tea Burst finish.
The Custom Shop's 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue is not just a tribute to the priceless original models; it is a clone of them. It represents the culmination of decades of work by the expert Custom Shop team; a tireless quest to bring accuracy and authenticity into the hands of fans. It is the best representation of the 1959 Les Paul Standard since the Gibson Custom Shop began producing reissues more than twenty-five years ago.
The guitar features Light Aging by the skilled artisans at the Murphy Lab. The Murphy Lab Light Aged finish, combined with slightly aged hardware, simulates decades of light playing wear, giving it the unique character, atmosphere, and feel of an original example from the Gibson Golden Era.
This Les Paul is no longer entirely standard, as the pickups have been replaced with a set of Amber Pickups Spirit of ’59. As the name suggests, these pickups emulate the most legendary humbuckers in history as closely as possible. Just like back then, the pickups are relatively loosely hand-wound and not wax-potted, and thanks to the AlNiCo IV magnets, they sound magical! Furthermore, this 2025 Les Paul is barely distinguishable from a new guitar.
This instrument has been carefully inspected for originality, condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
