Up for sale is this beautiful 1964 Höfner 500/1 Violin Bass with the famous Höfner Franz Pix 511B Staple "Nova Sonic" pickups, the same ones that this famous musician has on his bass, which is why so many musicians want one. The 1964 500/1 differs from the 1963 model only in the binding and 3D logo, which I think makes the 500/1 basses look more premium. This particular 500/1 has undergone a complete restoration by me and is in excellent overall condition. It has a beautiful used look and a truly lovely tiger maple top on the back. In short, a dream 1964 500/1 bass that, thanks to a new neck reset, also plays wonderfully with a low action.

The 500/1 is from 1964! It shows signs of use! There are blemishes, dings and dongs, scratches and cracks on the headstock, body and parts. The pickups are rewound by me. Pickups I have rewound are authentic. I use the same type of wire; the same tape and crepe material; the same direction of winding; same number of turns; Same assembly technique – there is no audible difference to an original. All pickups work, as well as every switch and potentiometer. The bass has get a neck reset by me with hide glue, eliminating a common weak point in these basses. The fretboard has been dressed and neck and string action have been setuped. The 500/1 is ready to use immediately in the studio, at home, or on stage.

I gave the violin bass a comprehensive overhaul. I thoroughly cleaned, disinfected and polished the paintwork. Mechanics were disassembled, cleaned, polished and re-lubricated as well as every single screw. All electrical system treated, cleaned and checked for grounding. Every single component is disassembled, checked, cleaned and polished. The neck is adjusted for good string action, the fretboard is cleaned, dressed, oiled and sanded. No refret required. The 500/1 is octave clean and setuped.

Information:It is a vintage instrument. The condition description corresponds to this when you come to me in the shop and would take the instrument directly with you. The temperature gradient when shipping with air freight can lead to changes in the condition of the instrument. e.g. Celluloid pickguard could tear or shrink due to tension. Likewise, pickups due to the wire expansion and shrinkage could lose their function by loosening the solder points. I am very accommodating with complaints, but please note this and do not expect a new instrument.

Please look closely at the pictures and ask as many questions as possible if something is unclear. Prefer a few more questions than to have the surprise afterwards. The shipment is securely packed.
