Klira Tone King 345 — an exceptional 1970s archtop jazz guitar, making it a true gem for both collectors and musicians seeking an authentic, traditional tone. This instrument perfectly showcases the precision, high quality, and superb craftsmanship of German guitar manufacturing from that golden era.
Founded in 1887 by Johannes Klier in Schönbach — a region renowned for its rich instrument-making heritage — Klira gained widespread acclaim during the 1960s and 70s. The flagship Tone King series, in particular, was highly praised for its premium build quality and rich, warm sonics.
The Tone King 345 was designed as a high-end, fully acoustic archtop (with floating pickup) tailored for jazz guitarists. The instrument delivers a full-bodied, resonant, and warm sound with excellent dynamics, making it ideal for jazz, blues, and other genres requiring a clean, articulate tone.
Considering its ~50 years of age, the guitar is in very good condition. Its history is subtly revealed only by a few minor dings and harmless finish checking, which only enhance its vintage appeal.
The instrument is in nearly all-original condition, including the legendary Shadow Attila Zoller floating pickup, highly regarded for its natural and transparent tone. The only notable modifications are the tuners, which appear to have been replaced by a previous owner, and the missing pickguard.
