1990s BC Rich Mockingbird Bass – Active Electronics – Black

The Mockingbird is one of the most unmistakable body shapes to come out of the 1980s, and in bass form it’s even more aggressive. This 1990s BC Rich Mockingbird Bass delivers serious attitude, loaded with extensive onboard active electronics that go far beyond standard volume and tone controls.

At its core, you get dual P-style pickups paired with a 3-way selector, but that’s only the beginning. BC Rich engineered this bass for maximum tonal experimentation: onboard boost, individual pickup “dual sound” switches, phase reverse for the middle position, and the famous 6-way rotary Varitone-style EQ selector that offers a wide range of preset tonal curves. You can dial in an enormous variety of sounds—from punchy and direct to filtered, nasal, or snarling. No matter where you set it, this bass has a commanding, aggressive voice that cuts through any mix.

Condition & Playability

The body shows honest cosmetic wear consistent with age and use. There are paint chips on the horns, two blemishes near the bridge, and a finish crack near the control area. The crack is in the finish only and is not structural (see photos). None of the wear affects playability.

This bass has been set up with low action, the neck is straightintonation is dialed in, and the frets have plenty of life remaining. It plays cleanly and functions exactly as intended.

A wild, feature-packed BC Rich from the era when “over the top” was the design philosophy.
