1920s Western Electric 394 Condenser Mic Capsule S/N:4470 - MINT&WORKING!

CVPA is selling its mint 1920s Western Electric Condenser Mic Capsule S/N:4470 - in perfect working condition!

Note: This is the capsule only and will need a mic head amp for operation.

This capsule would be great for a vintage mic collector or DIY vintage audio enthusiast: you can use this capsule with virtually ANY single-diaphragm condenser mic circuit (the audio test was using a simple AKG P170 mic body wired with a shielded cable to the capsule - took about 5 minutes to setup!). A common/original WE amp for this was the WE 47A (among others) - a 1-stage mic head amp utilizing a WE 239/264 tube (NOT INCLUDED). There are schematics available online for this amp and I have personally built a repro for a previous WE394 sale.

Capsule appears to mount with original 3-56 threads around the perimeter (you will need to double check thread type - can easily be tapped for standard 4-40).

Note: This sale is for the mic capsule only, NOT for free comprehensive tech support for your personal DIY project - though I'm known to give a few helpful DIY hints to paying customers who are friendly and patient (in my spare time on weekends).

Condition:
Outer capsule surface has small scratches and/or tiny dents throughout - still mint condition for a near 100 year old capsule.

Diaphragm has small dust particles - no dents or scratches that I can see - for its age I'd say its mint condition and it sounds amazing!

Vintage tin capsule container and torn label appears to be original to the unit. Torn label will be placed in a small plastic bag and will be included in the shipment.
