The Gibson ES347 is a more luxurious take on the highly acclaimed ES335; with gold-plated hardware, multi-ply binding, and an ebony fretboard, this version adds a little something extra to the proven semi-hollow guitar concept. The model was produced in relatively small numbers between 1978 and 1992.
The body is crafted from flamed maple with a Sunburst finish, and the neck is also made of maple. Both feature cream-colored binding, and the fretboard is adorned with the familiar trapezoid inlays. Other notable features include the TP-6 tailpiece with fine-tuners and a brass nut. The switch located on the cutaway horn is a coil-tap switch, which, in the case of this particular guitar, is no longer functional.
Otherwise, this 1981 Gibson ES347 is in very good condition. The control knobs and the tuning machine buttons have been replaced, and the instrument shows the typical signs of play such as minor dings and light lacquer checking, expected of a vintage guitar; nonetheless, it remains in excellent shape for an instrument that is 45 years old.
A unique guitar model that you certainly don’t come across every day!
