I am selling my 110-year-old Leedy snare.
Fantastic condition. Modern drumheads fit without any issues.
The shell is single-ply and steam-bent — just like the vintage Slingerland Radio Kings, Craviottos, and Noble & Cooleys. The shell is perfectly round. The strainer and tension rods work flawlessly.
- 15"x6" (the exact depth is 5 13/16")
- Mahogany shell with maple reinforcement hoops (also single-ply)
- Single-ply maple wood hoops
- 8 single-tension lugs
- Leedy Utility snare strainer
- Built between 1916 and 1919
- Made in the USA
- Very, very rare in Europe
The snare is highly versatile. It handles both low and high tunings well. Beautiful rim-click sound. The edges are in perfect condition. I am only selling it because I already own three other Leedy snares. The only missing part is the butt plate, though replacements can be found cheaply on eBay.com or Reverb. However, since the snare works perfectly as is, I never bothered buying one.
