[Condition]
Lacquer wear inside the bell throat. Light scuffing on the bell rim. Small dents on the bell body, bell flare, and 1st rotary slide - all repaired. Otherwise, scattered minor marks and light scuffing. Rotors disassembled, tubing cleaned, soft parts replaced, fully serviced throughout.
[Features]
The Yamaha YHR-869GD was developed under the supervision of horn player Shiro Ide, with work beginning around 2002. After 13 years of development, it debuted in 2015 as the flagship model of Yamaha's Custom Full Double Horn line, designed to deliver wide dynamic range and rich tonal color from a powerful fortissimo down to a delicate, soft pianissimo.
While it keeps the Kruspe-style layout with the 4th rotor on the thumb side, the four rotors are arranged in a row, Geyer-style. Combined with a newly designed mouthpipe, this gives a smooth airflow and natural legato. At the same time, the mouthpipe is voiced with just the right amount of resistance, letting the player fully receive and control their breath.
The medium-small throat narrow bell paired with gold brass gives clarity along with weight and richness - powerful and commanding when pushed hard, soft and delicate when played quietly. Heavy-duty valve caps, high-hardness nickel silver slides, and precision bearing-style mechanical action, along with an independent slide on the Bâ™ side, all add up to fine-tuned response and intonation control.
It carries the rich, commanding resonance typical of a Kruspe-style horn, while still offering a smooth blowing feel and flexible tonal response - an instrument that translates the player's expression directly into sound. This is Yamaha's Custom Horn line at its very peak.
[Repairs / Replaced Parts / Cosmetic Condition]
As this is a used instrument, the following notes reflect what we could confirm during our own inspection. Thank you for your understanding.
