This Gibson hybrid sits halfway between an acoustic and an electric guitar, as indicated by its “SST” designation for Solidbody Steel Top. While Chet Atkins is mainly associated with Gretsch, he also collaborated with Gibson to create this model. The mahogany neck features an ebony fingerboard (as well as an ebony bridge). It comes from a decade particularly prized by fans of the brand: the 1990s, more precisely 1991. Overview

The Gibson Chet Atkins SST featured a simulated soundhole and a plain headstock with no logo until 1993, when the soundhole was removed and the headstock took a more modern look with a star logo. The SST uses a chambered body with a Balsa center block and a bridge transducer with onboard electronics.
